About Vancouver Aquarium
Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park is one of the city's top attractions and one of the biggest aquariums in Canada with over 65,000 creatures from local Canadian waters all the way through to the tropical waters of the Amazon. The aquarium is also heavily involved in conservation efforts and has a rehabilitation centre for marine animals such as sea otters and sea lions.
Aquarium Highlights:
- B.C.'s Wild Coast Exhibit: Home to the aquarium's rescued animals, including seals, sea lions and sea otters.
- Amazing Axolotls: Meet the fascinating axolotl, an endangered amphibian famous for its permanent smile-like appearance and distinctive feathery gills.
- Pacific Canada: Set on two levels, one where you look down and the other where you are looking under the water.
- The Tropics: A journey into warmer tropical waters filled with colourful reef fish, graceful sharks, jellyfish, clownfish, tangs and, if you're lucky, even sea turtles.
- Wet Lab: Get a little closer and even hands-on with some wildlife in the wet lab. You can find anemones, crabs, jellies, sea stars, urchins and shrimp.
- Exploration Gallery: Watch the graceful jellyfish gently drift through the water in the specially illuminated tanks.
The aquarium has daily animal talks and feeding sessions throughout the day. The presentations give you the chance to learn more about the aquarium's animals from expert staff whilst watching natural behaviours up close.
Depending on the day's schedule, you may be able to watch sea otters and sea lions being fed during their feeding sessions, learn more about the sharks, jellyfish and frogs, or hear about the aquarium's marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation work.
The daily presentations vary throughout the year, so it's worth checking the schedule when you arrive to help plan your visit.
