The King’s Gallery is an art gallery at Buckingham Palace in London. It was originally called 'The Queen's Gallery' after Queen Elizabeth II, and it was established in 1962 and dedicated to showing items from the Royal Collection, which is one of the largest and most important art collections in the world.
The gallery is on the site of a former private chapel in the grounds of the Buckingham Palace estate. The chapel was actually destroyed by a bomb in 1940, during World War II and they used the ruins of a chapel to help construct the gallery - out of bad comes good!
The gallery rotates the exhibitions throughout the year by drawing from its vast archive collection and the exhibitions often focus on specific themes, periods, or artists, offering you the opportunity to explore different aspects of art and history.
The collection includes pieces by famous artists including Raphael, Michelangelo, Holbein & da Vinci.
Visiting the King's Gallery is a unique experience as it provides a chance to see rare works of art up close, many of which would not normally be on public display. Plus visiting the Buckingham Palace estate is also special!
As they rotate the exhibitions, it also means you can visit multiple times per year and enjoy seeing new exhibitions!
