About Lindt Home of Chocolate
The Lindt Home of Chocolate museum in Kilchberg is Switzerland's biggest chocolate museum and offers a fun, comprehensive and engaging experience which is dedicated to the history of and the intricate process of making one of the world's favourite treats, chocolate!
The experience includes:
- Chocolate History: An in-depth look at the history of chocolate, from its origins in ancient civilisation to its evolution into the beloved treat that it is today! For example, did you know that at some points in history different cultures used cocoa beans as currency and you could pay for things with beans! You can see how Spanish explorers brought cocoa over to Europe and how it gradually spread across the world!
- Chocolate Production: See the entire process of chocolate making! From cocoa bean to the finished product. Including insights into cocoa cultivation, harvesting, and the various stages of the chocolate production from the bean to finished product!
- Chocolate Fountain: See the incredible 9-metre high (30-foot) chocolate fountain which is topped with a whisk! Possibly the largest chocolate fountain in the world! The fountain circulates a rather delicious 1,500 litres of liquid chocolate and takes central stage in the museum!
- Chocolate Tastings: During the tour you can sample various different types of chocolate to see how the flavours and different textures work and create different products!
- Chocolateria: This is a fun part of the tour and a section where you can create your own chocolate with a chocolatier and then eat it of course! A fun way to learn more about the process.
- Exhibits and Multimedia Installations: During the tour you can also see and interact with the various exhibits and multimedia information hubs that are dotted around, which teach you about the process and the history of chocolate!
- On-site chocolate shop: There is of course an on-site Lindt Chocolate Shop for you to stop and treat yourself to some treats at! Know you will also know exactly how it was made when you buy one of your favourite treats!
