About the Estádio da Luz Tour

Estádio da Luz, meaning "Stadium of Light", is one of Europe's largest football stadiums and has been the home of S.L. Benfica since 2003. With seating for more than 64,000 spectators, it regularly hosts Portuguese league matches, international fixtures and major UEFA competitions.

The stadium tour takes you behind the scenes, while the Benfica Museum tells the story of the club through more than 120 years of history through trophies, multimedia displays and football memorabilia.

History of Estádio da Luz

The original Estádio da Luz opened in 1954 and served as Benfica's home for almost 50 years. The current stadium was built nearby and officially opened in 2003 ahead of UEFA Euro 2004. Since then, it has hosted the UEFA Euro 2004 Final, the 2014 UEFA Champions League Final and matches during the UEFA Champions League Final Eight tournament in 2020.
