• Central Park Zoo is a small zoo on the southeast side of Central Park in Manhattan. It is home to animals from different parts of the world, including snow leopards, red pandas, penguins, sea lions and tropical birds.

What You Can See at Central Park Zoo

Although Central Park Zoo is relatively small, its exhibits cover several different environments, from a tropical rainforest to habitats for animals adapted to colder climates, including:

• ‍Tropic Zone: The Rainforest - The Tropic Zone recreates a tropical rainforest environment, with birds, reptiles and mammals living among the vegetation. Look out for black-and-white ruffed lemurs, tamarins and a variety of tropical birds. The indoor setting makes this a useful part of the visit when the weather outside is cold or wet.
• ‍Polar Circle - Polar Circle is one of the zoo's main attractions. It has several species of penguins and puffins. You can also see puffins and visit the nearby harbor seal habitat. Watching the penguins swim is usually a highlight for those visiting with children.
