Yes, the Atomium is one of Brussels' most famous and unique attractions.
The structure stands at 102 metres tall and offers great panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. Its space-age design is made of stainless steel spheres and was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair (Expo 58).
It was designed to symbolise the peaceful use of atomic energy and it represents an iron crystal that has been magnified 165 billion times and consists of nine interconnected spheres!
Although it was only meant to be a temporary structure, much like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it has since become a lasting symbol of Brussels!
Visitors can explore the spheres and the exhibits in them that include art, science, and history.
The top sphere houses the observation deck, where you can enjoy the views across the city and the surrounding area. Moving between the spheres is easy thanks to the futuristic escalators and tunnels (the tubes seen on the outside) which add a sense of fun and adventure!
