About The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach

Long Beach's Aquarium of the Pacific is home to more than 11,000 creatures from over 500 species which are spread across more than 100 different displays.

The aquarium is divided into themed galleries that recreate different environments found throughout the Pacific Ocean.

  • Tropical Pacific Gallery - The section has a huge 350,000 gallon tropical reef habitat tank as well as smaller tanks where you can find hundreds of tropical fish species as well as frogs, colourful corals and other tropical wildlife.
  • Southern California Gallery - Home to more than 36 different species including octopus, sharks, rays, fish and other marine animals.
  • Northern Pacific Gallery - See the cute and playful otters, jellyfish, octopus and puffins amongst others.
  • Shark Lagoon - Home to multiple species of sharks. You can even touch some of the smaller ones! You can also see rays in this zone.
  • Shark & Ray Touch Pool - A section where you can get a little more hands on and touch some of the residents.
  • Lorikeet Forest -A path lined with waterfalls and trees and a lot of birds. Relax and listen to the bird song as you explore. They may even land on you if you are lucky.
  • Jellies - The fascinating world of the jellyfish and why they are so important. Watch as hundreds of jellyfish gently glide through the water in one of the aquarium's most relaxing exhibits.
  • Pacific Visions - An immersive theatre with interactive exhibits that focus on exploring the Earth's biodiversity and the challenges facing the planet's future.
