About Aquarium of the Pacific in Los Angeles
The Aquarium of the Pacific at Long Beach is home to more than 12,000 creatures from over 500 different species across more than 100 different displays, so you won’t be short of things to see, don’t worry!
The aquarium is set up as exhibits/galleries that show the environments where the various species are found in the Pacific Ocean and includes the following sections:
- Tropical Pacific Gallery: This section has a huge 350,000 gallon tropical reef habitat tank as well as multiple smaller tanks where you can find fish of all shapes and sizes as well as frogs, corals and more!
- Southern California Gallery: This section is home to more than 36 different species including octopus, sharks fish and more!!
- Northern Pacific Gallery: Home to the cute and playful otters, jellyfish, octopus and puffins amongst others!
- Shark Lagoon: Home to multiple species of sharks. You can even touch some of the smaller ones! You can also see rays in this zone.
- Shark & Ray Touch Pool: A section where you can get a little more hands on and touch some of the residents!
- Lorikeet Forest: A colourful and noisy section! A path lined with waterfalls and trees and a lot of birds chirping! Relax and listen to the bird song as you explore the area! They may even land on you if you are lucky!
- Jellies: The fascinating world of the jellyfish and why they are so important. Sit, relax and just watch as they glide around the water!
- Pacific Visions (building). A state-of-the-art immersive theatre with interactive exhibits that focus on exploring the Earth's biodiversity and the challenges facing the planet's future.
