The Alcázar is one of Córdoba's most important historic monuments. Combining Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance architecture, the fortress-palace occupies a strategic position beside the Guadalquivir River in the heart of the city's UNESCO-listed historic centre.
The name translates to the 'Palace of the Christian Monarchs' and it dates back to the 14th century when it was built by King Alfonso XI.
