  • Napoleon: Even though the families were connected by marriage, in the 1800s, Napoleon Bonaparte controversially took several sculptures and paintings from the gallery to France. Although some were returned, some are still in the Louvre Museum.

  • Bernini’s Masterpieces: Gian Lorenzo Bernini, one of the greatest sculptors of the Baroque era, was only in his twenties when he created Apollo and Daphne and The Rape of Proserpina.
  • Villa Borghese Gardens: The Borghese Gallery is situated in one of the largest public parks in Rome, the Villa Borghese Gardens, which covers about 80 hectares.
